Would you ever consider getting a breast augmentation or eyelid surgery? What is your personal opinion on plastic surgery to gain confidence and look more beautiful?
I would never even consider going under the knife for cosmetic reasons. As I’ve reiterated in previous Tumblr answers, I prefer my chest situation to anything larger - firstly, because it’s natural; and secondly, because I have a slight frame and larger boobs would just make life wildly impractical and hilarious for all observers. Same goes for the eyelid issue: 1) why not appreciate what is natural? 2) why mess with perfectly healthy eyes (I’m even wary when using contact lenses - there are so many people who would kill for any sight at all, so who are we to go knifing what could probably be achieved with a little eyeshadow if it’s that much of an issue?) 3) I have what the Chinese call ‘double eyelids’ so I don’t really know how many more I can go up from that by way of surgery… (and, as you’re interested, I’ve expressed my opinion on similar matters in this post).
I am not going to go out of my way to denounce anybody’s decision to undergo cosmetic plastic surgery. Each to their own. People can change what they want with their bodies in the same way people can eat a whole lot of junk food or no food at all. I do understand that some cosmetic surgery is a means of creative expression e.g. horns under the skin, super intense full-body tattooing, permanent piercings for that corseting trend that I don’t know the name of… however, when the motivation is purely to ‘gain confidence’ or ‘look more beautiful’ as you say, I don’t believe plastic surgery is going to solve any of those problems. Confidence comes from knowing yourself, what you’re good at and the people you trust, as well as reaching life milestones and everyday achievements, and is not based on what other people perceive as being ‘beautiful’. If someone cannot, by any means, be happy with their own body, then I’d say they have much larger (likely psychological) problems to be addressed than whether or not they should undergo (or can afford) cosmetic surgery.
Are the majority of your relatives in Australia or China? Or another country? How often do you visit your parents hometown and have you ever blogged about it? Thanks
Almost all of my relatives live in China (though I think I have a few second/third cousins living in New York/Texas/Vancouver… whom I’ve awkwardly never met) - my parents, brother and I are the only branch out in Australia (they think we’re very adventurous!). I don’t think I’ve ever blogged about our hometown… but next time I’m there, I’ll make sure that I do!
Hey Marg! Do you think its worth getting hair and makeup done for y12 formal?
Hey! Absolutely - it’s such an awesome night, celebrating the end of a huge chapter of your life, so go all out! Unless, of course, you’re a makeup maestro, in which case you’d probably do a better job than a beauty counter gal!
